Background
According to the G20 Global Infrastructure Hub (GIHub), “the global infrastructure financing deficit stands at $1 trillion USD and is projected to reach approximately $18 trillion USD by 2040.” By implication, developing economies and emerging markets will require rapid infrastructure investments to keep pace with the rest of the world. Similarly, a report by the African Development Bank (AfDB) highlights that “Africa needs an annual investment of $130–170 billion USD in infrastructure to bridge the continent’s infrastructure deficit.”
These challenges have amplified calls for increased private sector investment in Africa's infrastructure development. In response, Africa Infrastructures and Investment Ltd. has been established to partner with governments, infrastructure development institutions, and private and multinational investment organizations to address infrastructure investment challenges across Africa
